Final choice for poster.

I decided I like this image for my final piece. I will be printing it out on photo paper in A3, I feel It's simple yet effective, and although I've used the cube idea like I did for the scuplture I think this gives off a very different effect compared to my sculpture.

Options.

The two posters above are the original images turned to black and white in photoshop, I have then edited the brightness and contrast on them both, and added in the text 2011.

This poster hasn't been made black and white instead I've just edited the brightness and contrast on it and used the curves tool, i've added the same text but done it to mach the shade of the photograph.

I thought the cube Idea would be effective for my Poster idea also, Here I have hand crafted the words in the cubes and rearranged the cubes in different ways with black paper and lighting, my poster will be a photography edited on photoshop of one of these choices

My full scuplture.

My sculpture is a sitting scuplture, it is just over 30cm tall and around 20 wide, I think my sculpture really captures the floral theme I was aiming for and I think you can tell I have influence from Elsa Mora in there. I think the new flower designs really turned out well and the sculpture wouldn't have looked no where as near effective without them and especially the black coloured card I decided to include in it, For the photographs I thought a black background was best suited.

My designs for my cubes.

Above are my designs for my individual cubes I've just took close ups so you can see them better before seeing the entire sculture together.

These are the flowers  decided to add to my sculpture which I think are way more effective that the first flower I made. The flowers are just a simple shape cut out and repeated over one another.

Here I have made the paper streamers again but put them underneath the biggest flower. I've also made them longer, I think these work really well, to make the streamers it was really easy and all I had to do was wrap the single strands of paper around the end of a paint brush to get the curled effect.
I was going to put this into the centre of the flower on the last post but it didn't look right at all so I left it.
Here i was just messing about trying to make a 3d flower with the paper, this is the base.

This is for the middle of the flower I intend to make it into a cone.

This is the flower all stuck together, I have placed some white and black curled card underneath before I put the cone in the middle. this is okay, but it's too messy, I did place in on my sculpture when it was finished but it looked too much so I changed the flower.

Idea for sculpture,

I really want to incooporate the influence of Elsa Mora into my work but a lot of her work isn't al that 3D. So my idea is to make a sculpture with designs cut out influenced by Elsa More. I really like the idea of cutting out the designs then folding them into cubes, The image below by Richard Sweeney sort of relates to my idea and reminds me of cubes stack together.

Secondary resources

These are just images off the internet that I though would be good to look at for a floral theme, and would be effective to carve out designs of similar things into paper.

I have chosen these images having in mind what they would look like almost stencil like as I will be following the sort of technique by elsa mora and calving my images out in the paper.

Primary resources

These are a few images I've taken previously that I thought would fit well with my floral theme for my sculpture.

Richard Sweeney

I particulary like this piece of work by Richard Sweeney, and the build up of the sort of cube like shapes.

I chose to look at this artists work too he was the one showing us how to do some of this sort of stuff in the workshops. I didn't actually realise how good he was until I found his work on the internet, Some of the stuff he does reminds me of a floral theme and times with the shapes, I would really like a floral/nature theme in my work.
